Depends on age really. Sometimes a child from 2-4 will do that. My niece use to slap her own head. It is just a tantrum. Get on to them when they do it.

for most toddlers, this is a developmental stage caused by frustration. it can be normal & the best treatment is to ignore the behavior. if you suspect a medical problem, see the pediatrician
